Well here he is in his full glory and I have to say for the first time painting plaids/tartans I am rather pleased with the results. I have done him as historically accurate as I can, but I think that he is a fair representation of what one of these fellows would have of looked like, but I leave that to you to decide. So here is the chap.
Jacobite Soldier, 1745
Even Mrs PK likes him, even though she is English and he is not a Spartan.
Taken a we bit of a break for painting Plaids and the Jacobite I have finished a couple of Mutton Chop Miniatures Weasley Wretches by Paul Hicks. There are lovely to paint and are so full of charcter. I now have to finish the rest off and wait for Paul to make the command and support groups.
Also I have finished a second Lord Cirencester as I love the miniature. This time I has gone for a more traditions Guards type uniform and given him grey hair. I think that it works.
I have finished the free giveaway miniature from this years Other Partizan at Newark. The miniature was Wallis Simpson or Windsor. I have painted the dear lady in tweeds but have kept a little bit of Americanism with the blue blouse and shoes. I hope you like the daer lady.
And now for the happy couple together, Ladies and Gentlemen Please be Upstanding for the Windsors.
Here is the latest stage my Jacobite is at. I have totally finished the plaids now, just the final shade on the kilt and now its to the rest. The targe is not finished yet and its what I am working on at the moment. Should be finished shortly, maybe tomorrow even.
I have started the tartan, plaid on the Jacobite and I think that so far it has not been too bad. The weird thing is, all you figure painters and wargamers will know what I mean, its has been easier that the fear of painting it. Here is the latest stage.
Well here is the first sketch of the Jacobite Warrior after you lot voting for him over what my wife wanted, no tea for me then, lol. I have based him around a highland lord at Culloden and I think that I have captures the proud look of a soldier that knows he can beat the British. I love the pose and he has more than a little look of Anthony Quayle about him, dont you think?
Hi there I am wondering what to paint for myself as I have a share week before throwing myself into other projects. I have three ideas I want to work on, A Spartan, A Saxon/Viking, a Jacobite and Napoleonic Redcoat. The Question is which one to do so I am leaving it to you my readers to say. You have until Saturday evening 10th Sept to say.
As 1938 A Very British Civil War Guide to The People's Armies by Paul Cummingham for Solway Miniatures is going on release this weekend I thought that I would carry on my give away wallpaper to help support the launch for this book. The book is as the title states is a guide to eh socialist forces that are involved in 1938:VBCW and is illustrated by me. So please feel free to download any or all of the wallpapers for your computer. Thanks.
This is something I have promised the better half that I would get around to finshing this figure that I got for her in May at Triples. Its from Rapier Miniatures and it was a bit of fun to do. Back to real work now,
I have to admit that I am more than a little excited by this weekend. Mr Smillie and myself have been organising a demo game for The Other Partizan which is held at Kelham Hall, Newark on Sunday the 4th September, 2011. This should be a good fun day and will be nice to see the fruits of our labour as we have organised the whole thing via emails and internet forums. I also should say a big thanks for a few other people who without there support, know how and modelling skills we would of been sunk.
First of a BIG thanks to Ook for supply the terrain and Mrs Ook's Bakery. Huge thanks to Bungle for making a lovely aircraft hanger and road signs. Finally Red Rich for painting "That Woman", the dive away figure for this years show, and he has done a great job on her.
So if you have nothing better to do on Sunday and fancy a trip come to Newark and say hello.
Here is a picture of "That Woman" Wallis Simpson and this lovely lady is going to be auctioned/raffled to raise money for Help for Heroes.
